Moonage Daydream

Outfit Details:

Skirt: Steady Clothing
Shirt: Khol's (similar here)
Shoes: JCP (similar here)

Last night Lee and I saw Guardians of the Galaxy. It was a great movie, that also had a fabulous, and upbeat soundtrack. One of those songs included one of my favorites by David Bowie "Moonage Daydream." Which reminded me of these photos that were taken awhile back, in one of my favorite skirts by Steady Clothing. It is so much fun and is super quirky. If you have not seen Guardians yet, I recommend it highly. It's lighthearted, and I love a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Just a short and sweet post for today. More next time!

Eye too am Strange & Unusual

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I know I did. Friday night two of my friends from college came over and we had a mini harry potter marathon. I say "mini" because the three of us classy ladies got a box of wine, and got to drinking and talking. We were able to get through Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, and half of Order of the Phoenix. Saturday I was very productive and took photos for my apartment tour, so look for those this week, I'm so excited to share our place! Today, I am wearing a fun outfit from Modcloth and spending time with my favorite people, my grandparents.

Outfit Details:

Dress: Modcloth
Shoes: Modcloth

So, I splurged and got this dandy little outfit from Modcloth. They are having an amazing sale though, so check it out before all the goods are gone! The dress is from Lazy Oaf and is so much fun. It will be very versatile. It's perfectly acceptable for summer, as the material is quite light and airy. But it will be great in fall with a scarf and booties. As for the shoes... They are by Irregular choice. They are so weird and awesome... Did I mention they have eyelashes?

Um, don't mind the scratch on my foot. My cats completely neglect the fact that they have a scratching post that is not me.

The dress has a 90's vibe. It's very loose, but still looks great. For some reason, I think of Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice. I hope everyone has a great week!

Bit of a Francophile

It was another crazy weekend for me... We are still adjusting to our new apartment (the neighbors are super obnoxious), my boyfriend had another show with his band on Saturday, and my family and I threw a graduation party for my brother on Sunday. The grad party would have been fantastic had it not been for this random storm that came through. I am forever scarred, and may never throw another outdoor party again... At least not for a few weeks. :) I made sure to take some photos of the scene after the storm, mainly so people would believe me when I told them. All the food ended up on the ground and some trees got uprooted. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Yup, that's the cake on the ground in the second photo. I knew it was too good to be true when we had two cakes at the party, and there was a high possibility I would be able to take an entire cake home with me!

Don't get me wrong, the weekend wasn't terrible. We had some fun on Friday night. My friend Sam turned 21 so our circle of friends went out to our favorite bar, The Auricle. We had some good times and I wore one of my favorite dresses...

The dress came from Modcloth, it's no longer available for purchase on Modcloth.com but is available at Rock Steady. The shoes are from Blowfish. They are surprisingly comfortable for heels, and look fab with Everything. Sadly, they are no longer available from Blowish, but here are some cute one's from Modcloth.

Anyway, things are calmer now, and the boyfriend and I have planned (or lack thereof) a quiet weekend at home. Finally, I know it's a bit of a post overdose, but I have an outfit post I would like to share with you. I got some great photos just outside our apartment.

Outfit Details:

Stripe shirt: Thrifted
Skirt: Modcloth
Shoes: Mel by Melissa (Modcloth or similar here)

So, unfortuantly, the skirt is sold out on Modcloth but it was on a ridiculous sale. It's such a cute skirt and if I come across it anywhere else, I'll be sure to post. I also love all of Mel by Melissa's shoes. They are jelly shoes, but are extremley comfortable. Not only are they comfy, but, they are vegan (cruelty-free) shoes, and they are scented... like raspberries, in fact! Well, that's all for now. Au revoir!

Baseball Fields & Bumper Cars

I hope you had a less hectic holiday weekend than me. I am exhausted, but I am all moved into my new apartment. We moved all of it on Sunday, and I was able to unpack Sunday night, and all day Monday. I knew I had to finish it all quickly because I couldn't live in with my life in boxes. There are a few little things I still need to do, but I will be posting an apartment tour soon. I'm obsessed my my new place because it was built in the 50's, and that's the only spoiler I'll give. Anyway, these photos were taken a few weeks back at a family reunion, and I'm finally posting them!

Outfit Deets:

Dress: Modcloth
Shoes: Mel by Melissa (here)
Sunnies: Gabes (similar here)

The dress is on sale at Modcloth now... 70% off!! It is also a Bea & Dot dress so along with an adorable print, you can expect a great quality dress. There is also a big pocket on the right side of the dress, perfect for storing your keys and cell phone, and going on an amusement park adventure.

 Have a splendid week!

Reflections / The Find #2 Favorite

I feel very overwhelmed right now. Where did the month of June go? Saturday I  realized we are moving in two weeks and we have NOTHING done! Needless to say, blogging and anything fun will have to get pushed off to the side for a few weeks until we're settled.

The first day of summer happened this weekend and I wore my hula girl dress to kick off its rainy inception.

A great hi-low dress is a summer staple, even more so when it has a fun summery print. This wonderful dress by Sugarhill Boutique can be found here. (Image via ASOS).

A couple of weeks back I met up with Amia of Teapots and Belles. She is so lovely, and we have a lot in common, it's almost scary. Meeting up with her made me realize the great connections that can be made through blogging. Even if I don't get a ton of followers or sponsors, I'll be happy that I ever started a blog because I've made a friend and continue to pave the way for more friendships near and far.

Ok, I'll stop being corny now. Shout out to my boyfriend, and his band Eureka Verve they had a show this weekend and released an EP. Yay!

Classic.

Finally, my favorite outfit from my thrift store excursion featured in my June 17th post. The outfit was inspired by three people: Stockard Channing as Rizzo, Sammi of The Soubrette Brunette, and Betsey Johnson. Thanks ladies! You are awesome!

Sunflower Award

The lovely Amia of Teapots and Belles has tagged me for the Sunflower Award! A sincere thank you to Amia for nominating me!

Here are my answers to Amia's questions:

What are you currently reading?

Why, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, of course.

What movie do you think more people need to see?

"The Blues Brothers." When it came out, it brought artists like Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles back into the public eye. Along with classic performances, it also has the most epic chase scene ever.

Share one thing that your readers may not know about you.

I love Prince. Purple Rain is one of my favorite movies of all time.

If you could time travel to any point in time for just one day, when and where would you want to visit?

I would travel back to the 1930's to see Billie Holiday perform.

Where is your favorite place to go in your hometown?

There is an amazing ice cream shop down the street from our house called "Milk & Honey." Hands down, it's my favorite place to go.

If you had to pick one topic and talk about it for an hour, what would you choose and why?

Harry Potter. The books and movies resonate with me on so many levels. It brought me through my childhood, and has grown with me. Only an hour? I could go on for days.

Do you enjoy cooking/baking? If so, what's your best dish?

I love to bake. One of the things I'm best at is mayonnaise cake. It's my grandma's recipe, and it tastes delicious with my peanut butter frosting.

What is your favorite flower?

Lily of the Valley, they're so sweet and delicate.

My nominees for the Sunflower Award:

Rosaline of Sookie in the Raw

Katie of Darling Mine

Nominees, here are your questions:

Do you collect anything, if so, what?
Who is the most influential person in your life and why?
If they were to make a movie about you life, who do you think would play you?
What makes you feel most confident?
What three words best describe you?
Where is your favorite place to be?
What is your favorite flower?

Thanks again to the darling Amia!

Have fun!

With love,
Kayleigh
